“…where artists create and local producers trade with sensitivity to the environment and community…”

Located in Kennedy Heights within the City of Cincinnati, The Green Corner Studios and Marketplace (link to photo) is an exciting new initiative consisting of a fusion of art, fresh local produce, community and environmental reclamation. It is a place where artists can create, local producers can trade, and where all people are welcome, whether it’s shopping, taking a gardening class, volunteering, or participating as a supporter or a friend. Come visit the Green Corner and find out how you can make a positive contribution to your environment and community!

The Green Corner Studios and Marketplace
is located at 6524 Montgomery Road and was originally a fully operating gas station and car repair shop. Over the years the property endured several changes in ownership and was subjected to many different uses.  While the gas storage tanks have been safely removed and certified, there is still much environmental work to be done. All future renovation of the property will utilize either natural, energy efficient or recycled materials and will include features that intend to make positive “green” contributions to the environment and community. For example, we will be replacing the building’s deteriorated and leaking flat roof with a green roof – a garden of purple lavender flowers! We have employed a local horticultural designer, Martin Douglas to oversee this project. Click on link to learn more and participate. Martin has also created a non-profit organization – the Giving Garden (of Cincinnati) which we are delighted to announce will be working with the Green Corner. Over the next 6 months the Giving Garden will lovingly reclaim the derelict parcel of land on Tyne Avenue and install several raised beds (made from recycled milk jugs) and each will have an educational theme ranging from learning how to grow herbs, to the use of flowers to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.  Click on link if you would like to see class schedule, volunteer opportunities or how to donate.
